VALLEY CULTURAL CENTER
TAKES THE REINS OF MADRID THEATRE IN CANOGA PARK
WOODLAND HILLS, CA--As part of the cultural renaissance of the
West Valley,
Valley Cultural Center
(VCC) is pleased to announce it has been selected by the
City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department
as the new management partner for the Madrid Theatre in Canoga Park. VCC's tenure began on July 1, 2003.
One of the largest live theatres in the San Fernando Valley, the Madrid Theatre is the crown jewel of the neighborhood
revitalization and under VCC leadership, will focus on emphasizing
artistic excellence, cultural diversity, and bringing world-class productions to the venue.
To help accomplish this task, VCC President/CEO James Kinsey III announced the hiring of Denise
Leader Stoeber as the Madrid's new General Manager. Leader Stoeber began her tenure at the
theatre on July 1, 2003.
>It is the philosophy of Valley Cultural Center that musical, theatrical and visual arts
are essential to the quality of life of the community, to the education of young people,
and to the general well being of the human spirit," said Kinsey. "Our goal is to increase
patronage of the theatre through an enhanced schedule of programs, and thus increase
the patronage of the local businesses, explained Kinsey. We are pleased to welcome, Denise
Leader Stoeber, as the new General Manger of The Madrid," he continued. She comes to
Canoga Park from Pasadena, where she developed the Arroyo Heritage Theater, housed in the
historic McKinley Auditorium, as a community resource for performance, music, and dance.
The Madrid is dedicated to artistic excellence in all areas of the visual and
performing arts. Once called ...the largest theatre on the smallest
piece of land in the United States... the Madrid offers a state-of-the-art
performance facility for professional, community, and student productions;
an expansive exhibit space for visual artists; and an arena for Madrid Theatre
productions. Under the new management, the Madrid Theatre will continue to
encourage the presentation of artistic and cultural events that reflect the
interests and high expectations of the surrounding community.
For the past twenty-eight years, Valley Cultural Center
has provided high quality musical performances to the public-at-large,
free of charge, through the summer Concerts in the Park series at
Warner Center Park. VCC also provides community outreach programs
such as the free summer Monday Morning Concert Series for children
at the Madrid and awards over $10,000 in scholarships, annually.
