Charles Mingus was dedicated to music and youth.  A local and national treasure, he shared his passion for Jazz by teaching young people the significance and beauty of music, and the strength in believing in themselves.  When asked to comment on his accomplishments, Mingus said that his abilities as a bassist were the result of hard work, but that his “…talent for composition came from God.”
